# Quality report

## Internal consistency
- In every year, the U.S. utilized production equals the sum of the published states plus NASS's "Other states" aggregate (maximum difference 0 million pounds).
- Quick Stats marks 141 state values as withheld or not applicable (for example "(D)" or "(X)"). They are blank in the tables; NASS includes withheld values in "Other states".

## Cross-checks against a second NASS file
| Year | Area | Check | Other file (million lb) | Adopted (million lb) | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2005 | WA | NoncFruiNu-07-06-2006_final.txt vs adopted value | 5800 | 5700 | 100 |
| 2005 | US | NoncFruiNu-07-06-2006_final.txt vs adopted value | 9762.5 | 9602.5 | 160 |
| 2007 | WA | NoncFruiNu-07-08-2008_revision.txt vs adopted value | 5200 | 5200 | 0 |
| 2007 | US | NoncFruiNu-07-08-2008_revision.txt vs adopted value | 9069.9 | 9045.4 | 24.5 |

Differences come from NASS revisions published in later reports; the adopted value is always the later one.

## Coverage changes
- States estimated: 35 in 2000, 20 in 2017, 7 from 2018. Washington's share of the published U.S. total therefore rises slightly in 2018 for a definitional reason (see the seven-state sensitivity analysis).
- Fresh-market production by state is included only from 2007 (Quick Stats).
