Standards
Checks that the article meets FactHub's editorial standard: a title that states the finding, verdict fields that agree and can be quoted alone, sections that do their job, specific limitations, measured tone, verification aids, and a consistent house style.

What it checks
-
Title states the finding
title-formDoes the title state the verified finding in positive form, name the claim's subject, and resolve the claim for a reader who sees only the title, without repeating the myth, clickbait, or loaded words, and does seoTitle follow the same rule?
18 findings · 4 applied -
Verdict fields agree and stand alone
verdict-statementDoes the verdict statement work when quoted alone, with the claim worded as it circulates and the answer saying what is true, and do the title, claim, label, answer, summary, and conclusion express the same conclusion in current wording?
26 findings · 4 applied -
Each section does its job
fields-do-their-jobDoes each field carry what FactHub's rules assign it: a summary naming the strongest independent evidence, key points stating what the evidence establishes, context limited to essential framing, a conclusion that synthesizes rather than restates, and an editorial note covering scope, caveats, and review status?
38 findings · 5 applied -
Limitations are specific
limitations-substantiveIs each evidence item's limitation specific to that item, saying what it does not prove, rather than boilerplate or empty?
6 findings · 2 applied -
Tone is measured and respectful
measured-toneIs the language measured, with no absolutes the evidence does not warrant, and are objections and skeptics answered respectfully, without ridicule, sarcasm, or dismissal?
3 findings · 1 applied -
Readers can verify it
verification-aidsDo sources carry meaningful role labels, full titles, descriptions of why each was chosen, and primary anchors for key claims, and do the method steps cover claim definition, independent evidence, sources reviewed, and recorded limits?
16 findings · 1 applied -
Consistent house style
house-styleIs the article consistent and clean: units and number formats, dates, and names used the same way throughout, technical terms explained, and no typos or leftover drafting text?
36 findings · 7 applied
Each check comes back as Pass, Concern (minor or material), Fail, Not applicable, or Not checked.
How it grades
The first rule that matches the check results gives the grade.
- Any check is Concern (material) Falls short of FactHub's editorial standard in a way readers would notice.
- 2 or more checks are Concern (minor) Meets the standard, with several things to polish.
- Otherwise Meets FactHub's editorial standard. A single minor note for the author does not lower the grade.
From its instructions
Checks the article against FactHub's written editorial rules, not against its own taste: the title states the finding in positive form and resolves the claim; the verdict fields agree and can be quoted alone; each section does its job; limitations are specific; the tone is measured and respectful; readers can verify every key claim; and the house style is consistent. Every finding names the rule it applies and suggests the fix. It never fails an article (style doesn't make content false), so its grades run from A to C, and one minor note doesn't lower the grade. It doesn't judge whether the rating is right or whether sources are accurate; the Skeptic and Source Checker do that.
